Using the WinZip Ribbon

When you start WinZip by double-clicking on the WinZip icon on the desktop or from the Start menu, WinZip will start with the NewZip.zip file open. You can add files directly to this open NewZip.zip file.

If you already have WinZip running, to start a new Zip file, click the File tab (the leftmost tab (it may not be labeled in Windows Vista/Windows7)) and then select New Zip File. This will close the current Zip file and start a new NewZip.zip file. You can now go through the process of adding files to the new Zip file.

You will be prompted to provide a new filename for the Zip file when you save it.
