WinZip Pro and WinZip Backup feature

Pre-configured WinZip Jobs

WinZip® Pro includes several pre-configured WinZip jobs that can assist you in zipping some common data.

To run one of the pre-configured jobs, simply choose one of the following from either the Backup tab in the WinZip Ribbon interface or the Jobs menu in the Legacy Toolbar interface; the jobs below are listed with the Ribbon interface name followed by the Legacy Toolbar name in parentheses:

  • Documents (Zip My Documents): this job zips the contents of your My Documents folder and its subfolders. The resulting Zip file is called "My Documents.zipx".
  • Desktop (Zip My Desktop): this job zips the contents of your Desktop, including any folders that are on your Desktop. The resulting Zip file is called "My Desktop.zipx".
  • Favorites (Zip My Windows Favorites): this job zips the contents of your Windows Favorites folder and its subfolders. The resulting Zip file is called "My Favorites.zipx".
  • E-mail (Zip My E-mail): this job zips data for the default e-mail program, which must be Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Outlook Express, or Windows Mail. This job may not function correctly if your Outlook, Outlook Express, or Windows Mail data files do not reside in the default locations. The resulting Zip file is called "My E-mail.zipx".
  • All Libraries (Zip All Libraries): this job zips all of the files and folders contained in all of the user's Libraries, including any custom Libraries that the user may have created. The resulting Zip file is called "Libraries.zipx". This pre-configured job is only available in Windows 7 or later.
  • Documents Library (Zip Documents Library): this job zips all of the files and folders contained in the user's Documents Library. The resulting Zip file is called "Documents Library.zipx". This pre-configured job is only available in Windows 7 or later.
  • Pictures Library (Zip Pictures Library): this job zips all of the files and folders contained in the user's Pictures Library. The resulting Zip files is called "Pictures Library.zipx". This pre-configured job is only available in Windows 7 or later.
  • Docs, E-mail, Favs, and Desktop (Zip My Documents, Desktop, Favorites, and E-mail): this job combines all four of the above into one job. The resulting Zip file is called "CombinedUserFiles.zipx".

In all cases, the resulting Zip file is stored in a subfolder of My Documents named "My WinZip Files".

Notes

  • The items listed above represent the standard set that is included with WinZip Pro. If your copy of WinZip was installed by a system administrator, he or she may have elected to remove one or more of the pre-configured jobs. In that case, some or all of the jobs may not appear in the Backup tab or Jobs menu.
  • You can edit the pre-configured jobs using the Job Wizard. However, the jobs are stored in the WinZip folder in your Program Files, so you must have write permission in your Program Files folder, and any changes will be lost if you reinstall or update WinZip.
