Note: If you do not have an e-mail application that supports simple MAPI, WinZip 15 will allow you to use the features described below through its own e-mail interface. This will require you to define an e-mail account first.

If your recipient plans to view your photos on-screen and has no plans to print them, it is the perfect opportunity to take advantage of the resizing option in WinZip’s Zip and E-mail feature. This will allow you to send multiple photos in one Zip file that will not take forever for your recipient to download or clog up their inbox. Best of all, your recipient can download one Zip file rather than several separate attachments.

To do this, simply select your photos and right-click on them, then choose Zip and E-mail filename.zip

Images selected total 17.5 MB – Too large a file to e-mail

Note: The selected photo files total 17.5 MB - too large to e-mail! Now select a picture size that you’d like to email

Zip and E-Mail dialog - choose a resize option

You can see that in this example that the attachment size is now only 816 KB, which you can send without any issues. Now you would write your email message and click Send

Attachment file: Size is much smaller

If you already have your photos in a Zip file, you can resize and send them by following the instructions below.

WinZip ribbon interface

  1. Open the Zip file in WinZip
  2. Select the photos in the Zip file that you want to send
  3. Choose Convert and Attach on the Attach to E-mail drop down menu
Note: You can skip step #2 if you want to convert and send all of the photos
  4. Choose your options and click OK

Legacy menus/toolbar

  1. Open the Zip file in WinZip
  2. Select the photos in the Zip file that you want to send
  3. Choose Send ToMail Recipient (as Zipped Attachment) on the File menu
  4. Choose your options and click OK

If you are a WinZip Courier user, please see the Attachments Options help page. If you set a preferred size here, WinZip Courier will resize the photos you attach to an e-mail message as it zips them.

Your message will send faster and take up less space in the recipient's inbox when you resize. Also, if the recipient has WinZip Pro, he or she can easily view all of the photos without extracting them first!
