If your WinZip®, WinZip E-Mail Companion, or WinZip Self-Extractor license was not purchased directly from WinZip Computing, but instead from an authorized reseller, you will have been issued an activation code rather than a registration code.
Note: Activation requires an active Internet connection. Activation codes allow you to request a registration code for your WinZip software. If your computer is not connected to the internet see How to use a WinZip activation code without an Internet connection.
If you are not directly connected when you click OK, WinZip, WinZip E-Mail Companion or WinZip Self-Extractor will initiate your default connection before completing the activation process. An activation code will only work with its intended version (e.g., a WinZip 14 activation code will not work with WinZip 12 or earlier).
Important: Single-user activation codes can only be used once. Keep your registration code in a safe place in case you need to reinstall your WinZip products.
WinZip Activation Instructions
- Start WinZip.
- Enter your name and activation code EXACTLY as they appear on your activation acknowledgment email or on the WinZip CD case and click Register.
After your name and activation code have been entered in the "Register WinZip" dialog as described above:
- You are now presented with the WinZip Activation Information screen. Fill in the requested information and click OK.
- WinZip will connect to the WinZip server over the Internet and verify the activation code. Then a registration code based upon the name or email address you entered will be issued and entered into WinZip automatically.
- A confirmation email, containing the registration information, will also be sent to the email address entered. The registration code replaces the activation code. Going forward use the registration code to register WinZip if you need to re-install.
WinZip E-Mail Companion Activation Instructions
- Install WinZip E-Mail Companion.
- Open the Programs menu and select Register WinZip E-Mail Companion from the WinZip E-Mail Companion program menu, enter your name and activation code exactly as they appear on your registration acknowledgement e-mail or on the WinZip E-Mail Companion CD case and click OK.
After your name and activation code have been entered in the "Register WinZip E-Mail Companion" dialog as described above:
- You are now presented with the WinZip E-Mail Companion Activation Information screen. Fill in the requested information and click OK.
- WinZip E-Mail Companion will connect to the WinZip server over the Internet and verify the activation code. Then a registration code based upon the name or email address you entered will be issued and entered into WinZip E-Mail Companion automatically.
- A confirmation email, containing the registration information, will also be sent to the email address entered. The registration code replaces the activation code. Going forward use the registration code to register WinZip E-Mail Companion if you need to re-install.
WinZip Self-Extractor Activation Instructions
- Install and run WinZip Self-Extractor.
- Click Enter Registration Code on the initial WinZip Self-Extractor screen OR while holding the Shift key on your keyboard, click About.
- Enter your name and activation code EXACTLY as they appear on your registration acknowledgment email or on the WinZip Self-Extractor CD case and click OK.
After your name and activation code have been entered in the "Register WinZip Self-Extractor" dialog as described above, click OK.
- You are now presented with the WinZip Self-Extractor Activation Information screen. Fill in the requested information and click OK.
- WinZip Self-Extractor will connect to the WinZip server over the Internet and verify the activation code. Then a registration code based upon the name or email address you entered will be issued and entered into WinZip Self-Extractor automatically.
- A confirmation email, containing the registration information, will also be sent to the email address entered.
