The Application menuThe Application menu is available in the WinZip Ribbon. It is similar to the Office Button in Microsoft Office 2007. When the Application menu is clicked, it will open as a drop down menu with numerous features and it will look like this:

The Application menu contains the following:

  • New: Create an empty new file (.zip, .zipx, or .lzh), after which you will need to click the Add Files button in order to select files
  • New Zip File on CD/DVD: Creates a new Zip file on a CD or DVD (Pro version only)
  • Open: Open existing WinZip files
  • Favorites: Display a list of WinZip files in your favorite folders
  • Print: Print a listing of the files currently displayed in an open WinZip file
  • Save As: Save the currently open WinZip file to a new folder and/or save it with a new file name
  • Close: Close the currently open WinZip file without closing WinZip
  • Exit: Close WinZip
  • Recent Archives: Click one of the recently opened WinZip files in this list to open it immediately
