The Settings tab of the WinZip Ribbon allows you to set various WinZip options. The available options enable you to decide your Zip file creation settings in a more permanent manner (they don't change even after WinZip has been closed). For some of these settings, the biggest change over previous versions of WinZip is that you adjust them before you begin creating a WinZip file. This tab is divided into 5 sections described below the picture.

Multi-part Zip file
- Span: Choose to automatically span your Zip file when it is being created on removable media (usually a diskette) with or without having WinZip prompt you to erase the contents of the first disk
- Split: Choose a size on the list or specify a custom size for WinZip to use when you are creating a new split Zip file
Compression Method
- .Zip: Select one of the 4 Legacy compression settings for WinZip to use when you create a .zip file

- .Zipx: Select one of the 4 advanced compression methods (or you can select one of the Legacy methods shown above) for WinZip to use when you create a .zipx file
