How do I upgrade to WinZip Pro?

Registered users of any version of WinZip Standard including all versions of WinZip 9 and earlier, are eligible to upgrade to the latest version of WinZip Pro for a special price.

A special upgrade offer is sent to all registered users to the e-mail address on file with WinZip Computing. If you are not able to locate the e-mail offer, then visit our upgrade page and provide the information requested to receive your special upgrade offer by e-mail.

When you receive the e-mail, follow the links to purchase a WinZip upgrade. Once your purchase is complete, new WinZip registration information for your upgraded version will be e-mailed to you.

How do I upgrade from a Single-User WinZip Standard license to a Single-User WinZip Pro license?

To convert your existing WinZip Standard Single-User license to a WinZip Pro Single-User license:

  1. Double click the WinZip shortcut on your desktop to open WinZip
  2. Click Register on the Upgrade tab of the WinZip ribbon
    (If WinZip opens in the Legacy menus/toolbar interface, choose
    Register WinZip Pro Upgrade on the Help menu)
  3. Copy and paste your Registration Name and Registration Code into the Register WinZip dialog. Be sure to either delete the registration code that is there first or overwrite it.

If WinZip is not installed on your computer, please follow these steps:

  1. Download the correct WinZip version installation file to your desktop and double click to install
  2. At the end of the installation, click the Finish button to launch WinZip
  3. Copy and paste your Registration Name and Registration Code into the registration reminder dialog and click the Register button

How do I upgrade from a Multi-User WinZip Standard license to a Multi-User WinZip Pro license?

To convert your existing WinZip Standard Multi-User license to a WinZip Pro Multi-User license:

  1. Download your unique registration file (WinZip.wzmul) from the link provided in your order confirmation and save it to your desktop
    Note: WinZip must be installed first
  2. Double click on WinZip.wzmul to register

If WinZip is not installed on your computer, please follow these steps:

  1. Download the correct WinZip version installation file to your desktop and double click to install
  2. Download your unique registration file (WinZip.wzmul) from the link provided in your order confirmation and save it to your desktop
  3. Double click on WinZip.wzmul to begin the registration process

How do I upgrade from a Multi-User WinZip Standard license to a Single-User WinZip Pro license?

When converting your Multi-User Standard WinZip license to a Single-User Pro license, please note that uninstalling WinZip does not remove the Multi-User Standard registration file (WinZip.wzmul). If you only uninstall and then reinstall WinZip you will once again be registered with a Multi-User Standard license.

Please follow these steps to upgrade from a Multi-User Standard license to a Single-User Pro license:

  1. Manually delete the Multi-User Standard registration file (WinZip.wzmul)

  2. Restart WinZip; WinZip reverts to the evaluation version
  3. Copy and paste your WinZip Pro Registration Name and Registration Code into the registration reminder dialog and click on Register

  1. Double click the WinZip shortcut on your desktop to open WinZip
  2. Click Register on the Upgrade tab of the WinZip ribbon
  3. Click Unregister

  • Windows 7 and Windows Vista:
    1. Click Start
    2. In the text box just above Start type: C:\ProgramData\WinZip
    3. Press Enter on the keyboard
    4. Delete the file WinZip.wzmul in the folder that opens
  • Windows XP:
    1. Open Start and click Run
    2. Type: %ALLUSERSPROFILE%\Application Data\WinZip
    3. Click OK
    4. Delete the file WinZip.wzmul in the folder that opens
