Introduction to Using Cloud Services
WinZip® includes features that incorporate the use of cloud services. This article gives brief information about what they are and how to begin using them.
What are Cloud Services?
When reference is made in WinZip applications, the cloud refers to a distributed storage network that one can use through the internet or some other network. Most references mean particular providers of these services. The services provided involve storage and sharing.
- Cloud Storage: Storing files in the cloud includes creating Zip files and unzipping files to be saved in the cloud.
- Cloud Sharing: Giving others access to files you have stored in the cloud, either ones uploaded previously or those you upload and share immediately.
By creating cloud service accounts and uploading files to them, you will be able to make use of them from nearly any location and you can access them using multiple devices.
What Cloud Services can be used?
WinZip can connect to and make use of nine different cloud services at this time. Each of these services offers a free option, with various paid subscriptions for larger storage amounts and, in some cases, additional options. The amount of storage provided varies from service to service. Currently, the cloud services offered are ZipShare, Box, CloudMe, Dropbox, FTP, Google Drive, Mediafire, NAS Cloud, OneDrive, and SugarSync.
