When you unzip a file, WinZip decompresses it and places it in the folder of your choice. You can restore whole folders and retain the structure of all sub-folders. The example explains doing this using the WinZip Ribbon. In the ribbon, unzipping is performed in the Unzip tab.
When you are in the Unzip tab
- If you click the Same folder as Zip button, the files will be unzipped to the folder specified in a folder having the same name as the Zip. See the Unzip tab for more information about how this works.
- If you click the My PC or Cloud button, the Unzip window will open and you can specify the location to place the unzipped files, including locations in the cloud. After selecting the folder, click the Unzip button to unzip your files.
- In either case, if you want to unzip the entire Zip file, regardless of whether or not any files are selected in the main WinZip window, click the All files button on the ribbon before unzipping.
Note: if a Zip file contains a "setup" or "install" program, you can use the Install Feature to automatically unzip the files, run the installation program, and clean up temporary files.
