The File Menu
The File menu is the leftmost tab in the WinZip® ribbon.
You will find the following options on the File menu:
- New
- Zipx: Creates a new, empty Zip file (.zipx format). After the new Zip file is created, click Files and Folders in the Zip tab to add files or drag files from the Files pane.
- Zip: Creates a new, empty Zip file (.zip format). After the new Zip file is created,click Files and Folders in the Zip tab to add files or drag files from the Files pane.
- LHA: Creates a new, empty LHA file. After the new LHA file is created, click Files and Folders in the Zip tab to add files or drag files from the Files pane.
- Backup: Creates a new backup job using WinZip Secure Backup.
- PDF (from existing files): Creates a new PDF document from from existing files using WinZip PDF Express.
- Open
- WinZip File: Shows the Open Winzip File dialog, which allows you to find and open an existing WinZip file.
- From Favorites: Shows the Favorite Zip Folder dialog, which allows you to open an existing WinZip file from your favorite Zip folders.
- Backup: Opens an existing backup Zip file using WinZip Secure Backup.
- PDF: Opens an existing PDF document using WinZip PDF Express.
- Image: Opens an existing image file using WinZip Image Manager.
- Print: Prints a list of the files in the open WinZip file.
- Share: This provides you with a number of share options, including sending your Zip by email or, when it is in a cloud service, the option to get a link to the file.
- Save: Saves the currently open WinZip file.
- Save As: Saves the currently open WinZip file to a new folder and/or saves it with a new file name. You can save to your PC, a network location, or the cloud (including FTP sites).
- Cloud Services: You can log into or log out of any of the cloud services your WinZip version provides.'
- Social Media: Log into or out of your Social Media accounts so that you can upload your Zip file to a cloud service and place a link to download it on Facebook, LinkedIn, or Twitter.
- Instant Messaging: This option allows you to log into or out of the supported instant messaging options (Jabber, Office 365, Slack, Teams, and Twitter). It also provides access to the settings for each.
- Contacts: You can access any contact information you have configures WinZip to use here.
- WinZip Settings: Click this to open the WinZip Settings window.
- Email Settings: Choose how you wnat files shared from email when WinZip will be involved.
- Image Settings: Click this and choose from its submenu which of WinZip's image options you would like to set defaults on.
- PDF Settings: Click this and choose from its submenu which of WinZip's PDF options you wish sot set the defaults on.
- Close: Closes the currently open WinZip file without closing WinZip.
- Exit: When you are no longer going to use WinZip, this will close the application.
- Recent/Frequent: Click one of the recently opened WinZip files in this list to open it immediately.
