The Encrypt Window
The Encrypt window allows you to specify a password when encrypting files.
If you are using the WinZip® Ribbon interface, set the encryption level on the Encryption tab in the WinZip Settings and then click Encrypt on the Zip tab of the ribbon.
The Encrypt window is displayed
- when files are being added to a Zip file and you have enabled the Encrypt button in the Zip tab of the WinZip Ribbon.
- when you choose Encrypt from the WinZip shortcut menu in Windows Explorer. This action also encrypts or re-encrypts all files in the Zip file.
Note that the Encrypt window displays the Password Policy settings from your WinZip configuration. These are the rules that govern password validation.
To begin encrypting files:
- Set the desired encryption method in the Encryption tab in the WinZip Settings.
- Type the desired password in the Enter password edit field (read about passwords in the "Notes on using encryption" section).
- Tip: use the Show/Hide password eye icon to display the password or to prevent the password from being displayed as you type it.
- Check the Verify Password option to require entering the password twice for confirmation (to avoid typographical errors in the password).
- Click OK to begin the action you requested.
