The Password Incorrect Dialog
This dialog appears when an encrypted file is being decrypted and WinZip® cannot decrypt it using the password that you provided. Note that encrypted files are decrypted not only for extraction but also during an Encrypt operation (because files that are already encrypted must first be decrypted and then re-encrypted).
You can supply the correct password, skip decryption/extraction of the file, or cancel the current operation completely.
To supply the correct password
- Type the password in the Please provide the original password edit field.
- Tip: check the Hide the password check box to prevent the password from being displayed as you type it.
- Click OK to continue the operation.
Note: WinZip will continue to use the password you specify here for any additional files being decrypted in the current action. If the password is incorrect for any of the files, this dialog will appear again.
To skip the current file
- Click the Skip button. The current file will be skipped, but WinZip will continue to extract/decrypt any additional files. In the case of Encrypt, the current file will remain encrypted with its previous password.
To cancel the operation
- Click the [X] in the top right corner of the window No additional files will be processed.
- In the case of extract operations (including Extract, Unzip and Try, Install, etc.), any files already processed will remain extracted, but no additional files will be extracted.
- In the case of Encrypt, the Zip file reverts to its previous state, and files that were previously unencrypted will remain unencrypted.
